But what about ticks, mosquitos and other pesky insects? Well, they are here as well and in unprecedented numbers, thanks to climate change.

So what do you do in order to stay protected? Should you go to a nearby big-box store and get a bottle of that nasty chemical pesticide? Think twice! It might not poison you immediately, but you should know your facts: DEET and many other chemical pesticides are not biodegradable chemical compounds. When you use them, eventually they wash off into the rivers, oceans and groundwater and years later you might end up eating exactly those pesticides in seafood or vegetables for dinner.
